NSWTMCN507A - Manage a Communication Project - Unit Overview
In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to propose, plan and manage a communication project to advance an organisation's goals or your own goals, and build capability, in a work, community or educational context. You will gain skills and knowledge to indentify the need, then research, plan, conduct and manage the project through to completion and review.
When you complete this unit you should be able to:
Intiate a communication project to advance organisation and/or personal goals
Perform research to develop a communication project plan
Conduct, manage and mentor a communication project
Review a communication project and devise quality improvement strategies
During this unit you will take part in a range of activities as part of a creative team. The team challenge is to plan, design and develop an online magazine/website which will engage young people in a range of topics including social, environmental, personal and political issues and provide them with relevent, educational and interesting information.
During the project the team will:
Plan the communication project - including aims and objects of the online magazine/website to be developed
Research your target audiences and develop strategies to effectively communicate and engage with them
Develop plans, budgets and timelines to ensure that the project is a success
Plan, design and create the content for the online magazine/website - including publishing tools to be used, branding and graphic design and the articles and information to be published
Work as a team to meet project and publishing deadlines
Promote the online magazine/website to your target audiences
Review the project to identify key success factors and areas for improvement
Current Status of the Project

29 July 2009 - This week we focussed on identifying our target audiences and considering the type of content that will be developed for the magazine/website. We started developing our Speed Pitches! (Group Work).
22 July 2009 - Class discussion about issues and topics of interest was undertaken and it was decided that we would develop a communication project aimed at young people (target audience). See Week 1 Notes for further information.
