Online Tools Research

As part of constructing our site, we'll need to make a range of decisions about the tools we will use to construct it. Each of the tools below provides us with strengths and weaknesses. During week's 9 and 10 we will undertake some investigation of the following tools. To complete the activity you will need to:

1. Visit and explore a range of websites and online services that we could use to enhance our website
2. Make notes on your impressions of each tool and its strengths and weaknesses on your personal wiki page
3. Be prepared to take part in a class vote to decide which tools we will use during Week 11.

Website Platform

We will be using a Wordpress powered site to publish our online magazine, as it provides the simplest solutions for group publication (eg editorial rights, multiple users, comments).

The site will be hosted on Jo Kay's servers. We will register a domain name for the site. Please vote on your preferred option below:

Your Task!

Your task is to choose 3 of these tools and complete some research on how we could use it as part of our Online Magazine.

1. Select the tools you would like to investigate
2. Go to your personal wiki page (click on your name in the sidebar on the left)
3. Navigate to your personal 'Tools Research' page and complete the tables that have been included there.
4. Be prepared to take part in a class discussion and vote on the tools for inclusion in Week 11!
