Assessment 1: Research / Planning Activity: Speed Pitch!
During the second part of our class today you will be asked to work in teams to start researching and developing a presentation/pitch for an overall plan for the online magazine/website we will be developing. You can work individually or in small groups to develop a presentation of your ideas for the magazine/website and how it will engage young people.
Consider the following issues when planning your presentation:
Who is the target audience and who will it benefit?
What topics should be included?
How should the site look?
What technologies/tools should be used?
How will the site benefit young people?
Each group will be asked to give a 5 - 7 min Speed Pitch during class in Week 5! You can use presentation tools (computer, videos etc) during your pitch to illustrate your plans and strategies.
Assessment 2: Develop an Article, Video or Multimedia Content for the Online Magazine/Website
You are required to create an article, video or multimedia component for inclusion in our online magazine website. You will need to develop a story/ content idea and provide anoverview of the content for editorial review during Week 9.
After editorial approval you will undetake to write, illustrate and publish your content in the Online Magazine/Website.
Class Discussion Forum
During the semester you will be asked to contribute to a number of discussions in our wiki discussion forum. You can view it here. Your contributions to these discussions will form part of your assessment!
Discussion forums are a useful way to keep track of issues and decision making processes when working on communication projects - especially when you are working as part of a team! They can be used to gather opinions, to resolve issues, to track outcomes and to keep stakeholders informed.
Additional Assessments
During the Semester you will be asked to help to undertake a range of task related to the publishing of our online magazine/website during class time. This could include editing and updating content, creating meeting notes and planning documents, promoting and marketing the site or working with stakeholders in the project.
